same here,
all laptops go thru the x-ray machine. If it were a problem with electronics, enough people fly with laptops that we would know.
I think the only thing you need to worry about is film.

Don't believe the camera film speed story though. Camera film will be ruined by those X-rays regardless of speed.

Some film is more sensitive than others. It's more a question of the degree of damage to the film. Film with sensitivity of ASA 25 (daylight film) will fare considerably better than ASA 1600.

You can always take the film out and hand it to the screeners for non-xray inspection.

Another thing that harms film that airport staff fail to recognize is repeated passes. They think their detector is the only one that the passenger will ever pass thru on their trip.

But yeah, no probs with flash memory or hd based data, even with repeated passes.

I was wondering if any of the following would be damaged/harmed due to meatl detectors etc at airports:

I pod (mini)
SD card of the digital camera.
USB flash drive.

..been a while since I last flew with modern stuff

TSA wants you to put all of that kind of stuff in a briefcase or bag and run it through their X-ray machine. It doesn't damage any of the three items listed above. Heed any of the warnings posted near the machine, but I have had no troubles with SD cards or USB flash drives going through with no damage.
