Is there a maximum number of characters allowed in a post?

I tried to create a detailed question on a forum but was unable to place all the information in that post that I felt was necessary.

The BBS service this forum uses does some crazy things at time.

I dont know. Ive never had this issue.

Try labeling the first half of it as "Part I" and then split it and put "to be continued". Label the bottom half "Part II" and copy the bottom half and erase it.

Post your new topic and then immediately reply to your own topic pasting "Part II".

Word of advice from a long winded poster. Long rarely gets fully read through its entirety. As soon as something to comment on gets into view the reading process stops and the comment is posted.

I'd say that you need to just pose a question with a goal noted. Ask everyone to JUST answer the question. They'll summarily ignore you and blather everything that they know on the topic, but I request this since I love to see the insatiable and irresistible urges that people are subject to and are apparently helpless in controlling themselves. It's fun to watch.

There may be a maximum number of characters allowed in a thread... put Pablo, Tempest, Gary, Bill, Stevie and obbop together in one thread, that's too many characters!

I think it's a new feature. Just noticed it this week. On the right of the row of symbols above the post window are up and down arrows. When you fill the post window, you have to click on the down arrow to add more space at the bottom. Took me a little bit to figure it out, as my color scheme makes the arrows almost invisible.
