Are there any memory & concentration supplements?

Get a hobby, not just one but two that interact with each other. If you are trying to hedge off dementia or something awful like that its best to do some family planning now versus waiting until you are already infirm. Your children (and spouse) will appreciate it down the line.

The ideal is cardiovascular training, getting sleep, and taking some supplements and (strictly) moderate alcohol use seems to help as well (if we're talking about dementia).

I take a multivitamin (from a reputable supplier like Puritan's Pride, Centrum, or Swanson), cod liver oil, and a B-6/12/C vitamin. Make sure they're taken with food..

Most of the stuff marketed as a memory enhancer are probably bogus...

I also grind whole flax almost every morning and have it on my oatmeal. It's got lots of Omega-3.

I bought and worked through PositScience's auditory training a few years ago, and thought it was really good. (Learned about it through the book The Brain That Changes Itself.)

I get a reasonable amount of exercise - cycle commuting, walking at breaks, and weights at the gym once or twice a week.

I also like to write down lists of things to test my memory - bore, stroke, and displacement of certain engines, manned spaceflight mission details, Stanley Cup winners, math puzzles, etc.

So far it all seems to be working OK, but of course it's not a controlled experiment - how would my couch-potato TV-watching alterego do?

My mother in law bought some ginko to help her memory. She brought it home from the store but when she decided to start taking it the next day she could not remember where she put it. True story.

My wife and I play memory games every day. Like what movie was this line from and also general hard questions from our life or from our past together.

Problem is I can almost never stump her!
