Valvoline SynPower went down the toilet:

old Valvoline DOT3/4 boiling points - dry = 502F, wet=343F
new valvoline DOT3/4 boiling points - dry = 480F, wet=311F

Castrol GT LMA doesn't seem to be better on the wet end, but got better on the dry:

old Castrol GT LMA boiling points - dry=446F, wet=311F
new Castrol GT LMA boiling points - dry=509F, wet=311F

Valvoline use to be some of the best OTC brake fluids you could get. What alternatives are there now without online ordering?

why does Valvoline and Castrol only meet the absolute minimum for DOT4 wet?

You have to have moisture in the system for the wet figure to even be a factor.
Fresh fluid that is filled up high should eliminate this concern.
The dry # is VERY hot. Paper burns at 452 def F. - 480 is practically unreachable in a street car.
Racing requires different specs.

Castrol Response Super Dot 4 that is available here very reasonably priced has a dry BP of 286*c and a wet BP of 184*C, which works out at 543*F and 363*F

I was going to say the same, probably the BEST high performance 'bang for the buck', but sadly it is NOT exactly 'on the shelf' everywhere.

We don't get that here (just like sooo many of your land's GREAT cars).
We get the bargain basement afforementioned LMA and the top drawer, 'liquid gold' (and priced accordingly!

) SRF, ONLY.

Look for a performance shop or european car independent shop in your area and you will find a suitable product. There are a lot of online shops that well them too.
