I was at a local WalMart in Virginia and I noted only two Supertech filters on the shelves, in the back section where they put discontinued odds and ends. Is WalMart discontinuing carrying them?

Noticed same thing up here in NH. Mainly fram, with some motorcraft and some dodge diesel filters as the only exception. I see plenty of champ labs filters at the fake autoparts chains though.

if so it is dumb, they are quality filters. i'd have to find a new source of cheap American made filters. They still stock a good amount of them here. It is possible that at your wal-mart they do not sell as well as other wallys.

I imagine "fake" autoparts chains would be non-NAPA. Those that aren't trade oriented and cater too much to consumer grade quality levels. Some don't even offer a true OEM quality product in terms of longevity because they factor that the product only has to offer OEM performance for a limited number of miles/years.

I think NAPA is as "fake" as any autoparts chain. They now sell about as much or more china made parts as anyone and I don't care for everything being housebrand.

I tend to agree on the evolution of most things we can buy. NAPA isn't except from market trends. I'm speaking "traditionally". NAPA would typically offer the higher quality names ..along with higher prices. I make sure I buy brass contact rotors and caps for tune ups. They aren't always available at AA or PB ..and I pay through the nose for the privilege.

I am wondering the same thing
I consider Az, PB AA garbage 'consumer level' autoparts chains. They may have some good stuff if you are selective. I prefer to go to a pro autoparts place up here they are: Sanel or Robbins. This is where i get my rotella t 10w-30 and they stock all kinds of gear oil and sell wix and baldwin filters. NAPA is a bridge between the pro and the consumer, They have some really good stuff. When Delco branded "knockoff" parts were being illegally sold everywhere, I could trust to get reliable tuneup parts like caps and rotors from NAPA or GM parts counter ONLY.

I also personnaly DETEST big-box chains coming in and killing off the smaller stores that I have been a patron of for years. The Large corps tear down houses and farms and put up another massive and traffic clogging intersection. Sadly, My local in town, and convenient Hardware store is gone due to the "Big Orange banner" store being built 17 miles away. I now stop at 12 sets of lights to get to the state border 17 miles away, where 15 year ago it was only 2 lights in my commute.

They still have a good selection at area Wally's here. Some apps run low faster than others, like the #7317, and don't seem to get restocked quickly at times.

That said, as far as shelf space, the Fram varieties dwarf any other brand, including ST.

If they did/do drop them, IMO, it wouldn't be a stretch to wonder if Honeywell paid off Wally so they wouldn't compete with the orange can. Hopefully they won't drop them.
