I would go for a Kindle Paperwhite if just for reading. No eye strain. Thanks for the information- very helpful.
Price is not a factor in the purchase. Simply want a tablet that works so well I will prefer the tablet over a hard copy book.

Out of stock online but I found one in my local store. My Costco doesn't move product as fast as most of them. A new iPad is coming out next year so they are getting rid of stock on hand. That is when I like to buy my Apple products.Yes I saw that black Friday Amazon price, it was gone on Tuesday I believe.
My price that I canceled was $299 for blue.
The other colors were higher right up to list price.
Now if the iPad mini would be remotely modern with real phone call capabilities…Out of stock online but I found one in my local store. My Costco doesn't move product as fast as most of them. I assumed the iPad Air is the new version. However the 10 is a killer version/price for those that want a powerful tablet and an Apple product VS an off brand.Out of stock online but I found one in my local store. The new generation is not out yet There are only leaked rumors in the tech magazines. Won't be until next year.I assumed the iPad Air is the new version. However the 10 is a killer version/price for those that want a powerful tablet and an Apple product VS an off brand.
It was at a great price point that no longer can be had at Costco. They still have the same 10th gen model for sale but it has more memory and being advertised at Costco for over $400.
As far as stock on hand that is a Costco thing as they don’t carry many products of anything.
The 10th gen is not discontinued yet being it is a 2022 and the 9th gen still being sold at a discount is now discontinued.
I know you are aware this is for others who may not be.
Yes it was a killer deal and I can get $65 for my ninth gen which brings my cost to well under $200. I really didn't need a new one but it was too good to pass up.I assumed the iPad Air is the new version. Latest 10th Generation.
I was informed by @jcarr0314 there is a 5% surcharge if you are not a member, still a good deal in that case you get $73 off if my math is correct.
This is a great deal. I just canceled my Amazon order and ordered here. But I am a Costco member and got the full $90 off. (plus $4.99 shipping)

Also check out KoboEnded up purchasing this: iPad Air 11-inch, Wi-Fi (M2 chip), Space Gray, 128GB, from Costco. $499. Normal price $569.
I think an Amazon Kindle better matched what I was looking for and was significantly less cost.
Decided against the Kindle after doing much research on Kindle's licenses terms and conditions on media purchased. AMZN has the right to take back, without the owner's consent, any and all media the Kindle user purchased a license for. AMZN can do this without the Kindle owner's consent or knowledge. AMZN has in fact done this, to people that purchased the license to the book 1984, to one woman who violated some AMZN policy-- AMZN went to het Kindle and deleted all her purchased licenses without her knowledge.
Years ago you could "lend out an e-book" one purchased a license for on AMZN. You simply could not read the book while you lent it out. AMZN no longer allows this.
Here is the real kicker. It was reported the licenses for media purchased through AMZN are subject to AMZN's T&C. But here is the reported real kicker- AMZN can change the T&C anytime, and the new T&C is in effect at AMZN's desire- not the T&C when a user purchased the license. That is very scary- and these are the T&C every single license media purchase on AMZN happens. No reason to read the T&C, AMZN can change anytime and what they change to is what is in effect. One outlandish example- somewhen purchases the licenses to lest say 50 e-books from AMZN. Next year, AMZN can revise the T&C and state that every e-book requires an annual maintenance fee of lets say .99 per e-book annually. And if you don't pay the annual maintenance fee, AMZN deletes the e-books so you can no longer read them.
I suspect Apple has like situations, but I am hopeful a iPad has more vendors than AMZN to purchase e-books from. And one final comment, it is reported AMZN threatens e-book publishers if the publisher offers the e-book on platforms other than AMZN.
Yes, they are in stock, to Costco credit they did say for the month of December. I guess they meant it.It says they are in stock online again. Only color choice was blue.
They did have the “while supplies last” disclaimer. This new one is twice as fast on WiFi that the ninth generation is.Yes, they are in stock, to Costco credit they did say for the month of December. I guess they meant it.
Anyone interested the link is in the OP. List price $339.00 on sale at Costco for $249.00 if your not a member someone mentioned already that you pay a 5% surcharge still making it a great deal. I picked one up for my wife as an extra present at this price.
She is into photography and a tablet is an easy way to show photos without having people look at her desktop, laptop or iPhone.
Heck I kind of want one for myself at this price.
Looking forward to checking it out when my wife opens it at Christmas. They did have the “while supplies last” disclaimer. This new one is twice as fast on WiFi that the ninth generation is.
That's why I bought myself one too. So, I get to play with one and she gets one too.Looking forward to checking it out when my wife opens it at Christmas.
Definitely one of those presents she will find useful as we both are into this kind of stuff, electronics and all things Internet.
Yes the thought crossed my mind too. But for now I already have the desktop, lap top and phone (all Apple) and can wait should I like hers which I most likely will, MANY years ago 10? I had one of the 1st or 2nd gen iPadsThat's why I bought myself one too. So, I get to play with one and she gets one too.
