Good to know. It does still beat as of Dec 4th Amazon $299 is their cheapest price which comes in blue. I know because I just cancelled my order with Amazon.
Costco non member price comes to $266.00 Im a member so got the full $90. Thanks for this post at least I feel some value in paying their membership cost. *LOL*

I just updated my post since there is still time left to edit it. Thanks

What was Amazon going to charge you? I just bought one from them last week for $260 +$10 off coupon but the listing is now gone. It was a pre-Black Friday sale sold by Amazon proper.

Thanks for posting this!

I am trying to purchase, and Costco website states out of stock and apparently won't let me purchase.

Ny known work arounds?

Maybe try the other color or other warehouse for pickup? Silver is no where by me but Blues shows in stock at 3 warehouses within 20 minutes of me. I'm probably going to grab one for my wife. Says limit 2 while supplies last in case i wanted to grab a second blue one. ;)

Just keep looking would be my recommendation. I was gonna jump on the 10th gen but then decided that the Air was almost 2 years newer and would receive support for a longer period of time. Of course, the Air was $500 on sale last month and double what the 10th gen is going for now. It hurt because I bought 2. Also, when I bought, the 10th gen was $299.

Thanks, if you don't mind be asking- what is the air?

The sole reason I am interested in a "pad" is to read e-books.

Sorry, should have specified. Air is the iPad Air. It's a different iPad than the 10th gen. It has an M2 processor as opposed to the A14 chip. It also has additional storage options and sizes. Whereas the 10th gen is 10.9", the Air is availabe in 11" and 13". I also think the 10th gen comes with 4GB ram as opposed to the 8GB in the iPad air. There may be other differences but those are the highlights.

If cost is a consideration, have you looked at the Amazon Fire Tablets? Might be all you need. We have the 10" kids tablets and they are ok but geared more towards the kids. I considered getting one for myself (not the kid version) but I wanted something I could use with my band that was easy. I actually use a Samsung tablet for my band stuff (sheet music) but the iPad can also work if the tablet dies. I didn't see any good apps available for the Amazon tablets for my purpose.

Thanks for the information- very helpful.

Price is not a factor in the purchase. Simply want a tablet that works so well I will prefer the tablet over a hard copy book.

Welcome. I can't give you that opinion but I'm sure others can. Most of my iPad work is just browsing the web and reading home theater forums. Good luck with whatever you do choose!

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (new version)
My wife has an older one she uses. The coloring is that off white/linen with text accordingly. Backlighting works well and not as blue light issues for bedtime. Hers IIRC also has the anti glare screen so ok outside/beach. Battery lasts a long time.

Only thing is that it is just a reader, no other multitasking, internet stuff that I recall. We shopped at one of the stores, maybe Barnes & Noble and they had other iPad/Fire etc and when she picked up and read on the paperwhite after the others and went back 2 times, she said this is what I want. done.

This is previous version for ratings etc.

Other option could be Amazon Fire HD Tablet. This you could multitask, no clue on glare, battery life etc.

had just purchased less than 2 weeks prior from Costco the Gen9 iPad for $199 as a gift...thanks so much for posting this as I returned the Gen9 and paid the $50 more for a Gen10...I had to go to two Costcos to find one actually in stock despite what it said on the website and bought a blue one (won't matter as it will go in a protective cover)...

you made me look like a hero for my lady who uses her iPad as her computer and allowed me to get a better iPad for very little more than I had originally...

thanks,

Bill

Yes I saw that black Friday Amazon price, it was gone on Tuesday I believe.
My price that I canceled was $299 for blue.
The other colors were higher right up to list price.

Sorry just saw this. Sorry to hear, amazing price it was. That was a close call for me.

I just checked this morning and see it is out of stock here too. It shipped surprisingly fast for Costco, it will be here Saturday.

If you pick and choose individual stores by zip code you may still find some in individual stores if possible to pick up.

Amazon is fully stocked, as of right now the blue is $299
For just reading books and books only I would do as another suggested and get a reader.
My sister loves reading and has both iPad and Amazon reader. The text in a true reader is amazing.

DId you ever end up getting anything? I see Costco has the iPad Air 11" on sale again for $500. Walmart dropped it to I think $470 at one point and I was hoping that Costco would follow but I haven't seen it yet.

ordered the gen 10 for my Mom for christmas on the Sunday morning before thanksgiving, was supposed to arrive that night.. got to "delayed in shipping" at the nearest amazon warehouse for 2 days... Finally arrived on Wednesday, the day before thanksgiving.

her existing iPad is a Gen 2 mini my brother bought back in 2016, when he still had access to the .edu discount.

it's out of support, and the battery wouldn't hold much of a charge.
she would use it plugged in, and it would get hot wile doing so.
about a week later, the old Mini finally up and Died. even plugged in will not turn on.
asked her if she wanted the new one early, she said to wait and hold it for Christmas.

my GF kept asking me if i got mom a case too..." no.. I bought the dang iPad, someone else can buy a case."

so she bought one...

I put the purchase on temporary hold. I read a review on youtube that stated the Ipad mini is the way to go iff only using the pad as a e-reader, that the other ipads are not advantageous for exclusive e reader use because they are heavy/ bulky when compared to a kindle.
