Apparently I’m wanting an old man car…

Just find an early 70s pre-cat New Yorker, Town Car, or Fleetwood and sink into those pillow seats as you float down the road. You don't steer them, you sort of point the direction and float there.

IS has very very small interior, Avalon is probably going to be 2x as big inside.
As someone who has both, this is correct. My wife’s 2023 IS has about as much interior and trunk space as the 2003 Corolla it replaced. I still think it’s a great buy if you want something sporty and well-made.

My modern* old man cars were/are: 1992 Olds 88, 1993 Chevy Caprice, 2000 Lincoln Town Car, and 2020 Toyota Avalon. One thing to remember is many of them won’t have folding rear seats, as interior quietness is often prioritized over versatile cargo space. My Avalon has them, but the TC and 88 did not. If you’re shopping the ES, I believe they don’t have folding rear seats… At best just a tiny center pass-through. I was shopping late model ESs when I found my Avalon. My Avalon has bucket front seats, so it doesn’t feel as “old man,” but I have driven a 2010-ish Avalon and it had a bench seat and felt a lot more like a Lesabre.

I’m 43, so depending on your age I may or may not be an old man already. I had the Olds when I was in my late 20’s, but by that time most Olds 88’s were being driven by the grandchildren of the first owner.

Modern: has fuel injection and doesn't have sealed-beam headlights.

If you keep playing the what am I going to buy game soon you will be an old man 👴 😁 😀

Car swappers disgust me .....
Yeah I know 😆 🤣
I decided I wanted an AWD so I bought the RAV last fall, and it’s been great, but as the winter dragged on and I was couch-bound after a surgery I discovered something was missing from my life. That something was apparently scrolling Facebook looking for used cars, and in doing so discovered a niche I needed to fill.

I have two trucks and two hatchbacks but only one sedan, so only one vehicle with a locking and hidden cargo compartment. It also happens to be the car I’m most likely to drive on a long distance or multi-day trip. Because it has a locking trunk it’s usually full of all my shooting stuff…so now I’ve decided I need a dedicated ”shooting car” with a giant trunk so I can leave all my stuff in it and keep the Mazda trunk empty.

First world problems indeed.
