i have changed the oil. nut was on "finger tight" and still is, as i lost the wrench to tighten it.

is there anythin gi should look for after changing the oil? level more than color, right ?

oh and i also noticed "whispy smoke" by the oil pan, the exhaust runs right past it, idk if thats related. weird. no check engine light either this time

went with Maxlife 10W-30 but also 2 qts Quaker State 1 5w30 and 10W-40 so i got it all in there

Unused motor oil varies in color from light honey(almost clear) to dark brown, so going by color doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Make sure you are putting the correct amount in at the change, under- or over-filling can cause issues.

"Wispy smoke"...was your exhaust wet at all? You can easily get some steam coming off of the pipe if you've driven in the wet.

Lastly, get a wrench pronto. You definitely do not want the oil plug coming out!

Welcome to BITOG Arnaldo!!

Arnoldo, your island does not get too hot or too cold, but there is the humidity to deal with.

Where I live we have rather hot summers and cool winters, and in inland California it can be extreme in the mountains or deserts. And can you ship some of your water over here? The dust around here never really settles down.

You should ask him to ship you some coffee. Puerto Rico has one of only three super premium coffees in the world. In fact, it is the official coffee of the Vatican. The humidity there isn't really that bad in comparison to several US states. I'd move there in a heartbeat.

It's difficult to judge an oil by its color.

the smoke is prolly used oil on the y-pipe burning off.
tighten the drain plug stat!!

why did you mix all those oils?
maxlife is 13 bucks for 5qts at walmart.

That`s ok SuperFast, the first time I installed a short shifter in my car,I dropped a 12mm wrench AND a 12mm socket on top of the cats (through the shifter hole) and everytime I`d be at a standstill idling,I could hear the wrench rattling, haha! man that [censored] me off! It finally fell off somewhere,so it`s not there anymore, haha!

yes, or exhaust ?i could not tell and it was strange, as it was visible "at the oil pan" and the exhaust runs right next to it, it snakes all over the place.

guys please let me say that i will provide videos of what im describing, if anyone wishes to see. i may not know a lot but i feel im in the right place to educate myself and i appreciate your help, its not the best car but it is my only car and i love it and the smoke issue seems to be on startup only, that said it is worse and has only very minorly died down after i changed the oil it still does it, perhaps i shouldnt have MMOd it this is a very good engine and i wont be putting MMO in anymore but perhaps it will stop, idk.

i will also tighten the drain plug too, its overfull roughly a quart or a little bit more on oil now. thank you

so you didnt tighten the plug, over filled it 1-1.5 qts, and you mixed 3 different oils?

you might want to have an oil change shop do your maintenance for you from now on. they look it over pretty good also

Possible. But I think he's more likely just getting started on DIY maintenance. We were all there at one point.

Super, you had no wrench but still proceeded to remove the drain plug by hand? That's brave. I'd tighten it properly but first drain a quart out so you aren't so overfilled.
