I have a 2006 F-250 with the 6.0 engine. I currently use the Schaeffer Supreme 7000 15w40 and I am trying to find out what anyone thinks about the MolyBond X200.

Ozz I have been using the Supreme 7000 for the last 18 months in a 1996 Dodge diesel. UOA have been good and the truck seems to like it. I have read some people using the Molybond X200 and have better oil pressure at idle after switching from the S7000 & S9000.
I considered the Molybond X200 but the local sales rep had several cases of the S7000 on hand and didn't have to worry about placing a huge order.
How cold does it get where you live ?

Go to the Schaeffer's website, print out the Technical Data papers on the Supreme 7000 and the MolyBond X200 and compare for yourself.

X200 has a higher TBN, higher Sulfated Ash Content (1.5% compared to .95%) and is more Shear Stable per ASTM D-3945. Viscosity loss due to shearing for the X200 is 7% while Supreme 7000 is 9.96%.

Supreme 7000 does have a higher HTHS number which is 4.3 compared to X200's at 4.08.

FWIW, the MVR Borderline Pumping Temperature per ASTM D-3829 for MolyBond X200 is -15 deg F.

ozzmann, use what you want. Either oil will perform well. If I wasn't running Schaeffer's I would use Delo but since the price difference is only $2 per oil change between Delo and Schaeffer MolyBond, I went with Schaeffer's...

My .02..

Winter in Missouri ranges from high teens to high twentys for the most part in the dead of winter. We do get some single digits but not very often.

Well said. While moly bond is an awesome dino the 25% pao in the base stock of the 700 series makes it a superior fluid.

Is Molybond the base oil for Supreme 7000?

Thanks for the info...
