Has anyone ran Mobil Annual Protection yet ? I got 2 jugs from the AZ clearance but was wondering if anyone noticed any difference using it.

Yup. doubled my horsepower and gas mileage. LOL!!!

its a good oil. 10-15K OCI should not be a problem in the right application.

Pair it with a good oil filter.

I'm wondering the same..... I don't recall joining any previous discussions about it

(since there's no way in (edit - mod) I'm paying $50 + tax for a gallon of oil!)

My prediction:
I will not be able to tell any difference from any other oil I have ever run in my truck........ ever.

It's probably nearly the same exact recipe as Mobil 1 5W-20 AFE.

I don't think anybody else around here has heard of it either...

Dunno what it is, but I've seen it on clearance before, must not be all that good :P

Don't you think 10K -15K is a little conservative?

I'm running that right now with a "plain" group III oil and a bypass filter - the oil still looks great 21,000 miles later

I'll be tempted to go 40,000-50,000 on the "Annual Protection" stuff with mostly highway miles and a bypass filter.

Shouldn't pose any problems at all.

In the Sportage for over a week...no difference. As i mentioned in a previous thread, my aim is to go the year (usually 12 to 18k miles). We'll see if i have the nerve. Lol.

I'll use it if I can get it for around $30 a gallon at Walmart, but I get AFE for $25 a gallon so I'm sticking with that as it's great oil for the money and the best for cold starting.

I bought three oil changes worth. (18 quarts). $36 plus tax. Pretty sweet deal. Now I must decide if I too, have the nerve to run it super long, and in what car. It's either going in the 2008 Santa Fe with a 3.3, or a 2005 Ford Freestyle with a 3.0 Duratec. Not sure if I have the stones to run it a year at a time. The Santa Fe could do 20k in a year, the Freestyle only 12k-15k. I only paid $350 for the Freestyle, I'll probably test it out on that! The Santa Fe has only gotten Valvoline Synthetic Maxlife for a long time. Don't know if I'm willing to change. It consumed 1/2 quart in 5k on Mobil 1, it doesn't burn a single molecule on the Valvoline. I know 1/2 quart over 5k is very little but still.

Santa Fe has 205,000, Freestyle has 292,000.

This a good deal. If it can't hold up to 15K OCI's then XOM is full of it. I may not be a M-1 fan but XOM is not full of it especially when it comes to Mobil-1.

I got some on sale … not clearance … going to be my next change on the Fusion Hybrid so maybe I can go a year without having to pull that table top out from underneath the car …

Definitely a good deal. I do wonder though... I have a Napa Platinum and two STP XL's on the shelf that fit the Freestyle. Would one go the whole year or whatever mileage on the same filter, or swap the filter out mid interval? Say at 6,000-7,500? Extended oil changes are not something I do, and I'm definitely more likely to give it a try on a $350 car. This car has no issues, doesn't burn oil, no leaks, no trouble codes and is spotless under the valve covers.

Plus I don't want to be scolded for only using Mobil 1 AP for only 5,000 miles!

Run a Fram Ultra and do the full year, it can handle 20k.

I'm open to this idea, but the Napa Platinum is just sitting there on the shelf staring at me...

The Napa Platinum should be good and up for the task in this operation.
