i recently put in some super tech 10-30 synthetic in a 02 nissan sentra 1.8 and i have notived that it stained the valvetrain a dark browingh /reddish color

Walmarts automotive products are not even close to their nearest industry competitor from a Large Name Brand! So if you want cheap consider Valvoline Synpower,Penzoil Platnium etc....Walmarts Synthetic is a false ecconomy because it does not do that great of job and does not hold it's tbn long enough to extend the oci much past 5000 miles. Now if you took their oil and added some additional additives it would at least be decent but it is still not top notch. Their are many different types of GII and GIII base stocks and not all of them are created equal!

I have considered buying a gallon to play with and sweeten up with additional additives just to see if I can make it into a manily oil!!!LOL

I'd like to see that. :)

rx7rage,

about a year ago we were having a lot of discussions on BITOG concernin ST (synth) from Wal-mart. I went thru the UOA section and looked at ST UOAs till I was tired of looking at them. The UOAs out to about 7k were excellent. At 7k+(miles) one UOA showed ST starting to get borderline on TBN. The main gripe from others on BITOG was that ST is not really much cheaper than the namebrands - so why not just use a namebrand. But there were many anecdotal posts of folks getting great performance from ST, and I would challenge you to find a bad ST UOA.

Do some searches and you'll find a lot of BITOGrs who are very happy with ST's performance in their vehicles.

BTW, I almost forgot:

If you're gonna use Supertech anything, make it the oil filters, which are quite good.

I imagine it is just fine for regular OCIs, but Mobil Drive Clean 5000 is $8.97 for 5qt jugs.

dang filters are getting higher in price. 2.77 now before they was 1.98

I've been running ST dino(both WPP and XOM versions)in my vehicles for many years without problems and have had good UOA's. It's a decent oil at what used-to-be a decent price. The 5 qt jugs I have in my stash were from the $4.97/jug days. If I were to buy oil now though, I'd either get Mobil Clean 5000, Pennzoil Yellow bottle, or QS green bottle simply because it's only a few cents more.

ST is pretty good oil...blackstone says it does about as good as any other oil they test...7k ocis are doable...it is 7.48 at WM for a jug..MC 5000 is 8.97...QS is 9.75...i dont run it much because i like motorcraft synblend, pennzoil or M1, but i would have no problems putting it in my car for 7k

It's SM / GF4 rated in both the dino and syn flavors, comes in a wide variety of weights, and is reasonably priced. What more do you want?

Sounds good fellas, looks like I'll be putting some in my twin turbo rx-7 which is known to heavily fuel dillute the oil. I'll send in an eoa after 1500 miles.

Just me, but I'd spend the extra for Pennz Plat in a twin turbo. PP has been said to help resist fuel dilution. I'm thinking of going back to PP exclusively in both of my Toys. WM has 5qt jugs for $20.
