Continual CEL and parts on order.

Only the base model has the 1.8L normally aspirated Ecotec. All the others have the 1.4L turbo Ecotec.

I don't get the need for the 1.4T. The 2.2 Ecotec in the Cobalt gets nearly the same MPG & HP without a turbo. Drop that package in the Cruze and be done with it.

Still love the Astra...

Haven't decided yet, but I really liked the Cruze LS I drove...little car is fun to drive for a base compact...

You can have more fun with the 1.4 though.

No sir, I just grabbed the pic at McDonalds. I don't take a lot of decent pics, but this is one.

I don't really know. I'm told it's a solid engine. The car is under warranty, so I'm not worrying about the ins and outs much.

I can't say the Astra is for everyone, however it fit everything my wife wanted in a car, European, 2-dr, hatch w/manual trans. We really weren't looking at cars, I always figured she'd get a used TT (great used car for the money). I was aware of the Astra being imported, yeah, but the deal maker was the Cash for Klunkers. We got a few grand off sticker and Klunked an A6 that had a deer strike (of all things). Sold the CRV for $3k to family, ended up writing out a check for under $9k.

I have a lot of links from research, but these are good ones....

(Astra diesel 5dr beats supercars...?!)

I would choose neither Cruze Ltz nor the Malibu LTZ, for mid $20k's I would choose either Accord or Camry or Sonata.

But u not getting much car in an accord or camry for mid 20's.

I just checked out the "Build Your Own" feature at Chevrolet.com. Yes, you can make a top-of-the line LTZ Cruze cost over $26k. Do the same for a Malibu, and the car will top out at over $29k. Apples to oranges. I suspect that the dealers, once the flow of buyers begins moving, will be selling Cruzes for under $20k.

True that. My brother's Accord EX was $25K and basically stripped down. It has less than some of your average econo car comes standard with. Although it is a 2 dr and has a sunroof. It does not have automatic light control (which is the main thing missing), premium sound or XM, outside temperature, compass, navigation or anything like that. If you added those options you'd probably be in the $28K-30K.

We'd take the new 2011 ELENTRA over the CRUZE . You can get a loaded ELENTRA for little over $16 grand . We looked at few earlier , one was in the showroom . Very sharp style . The interior is well designed . The drivers seat and front passenger can fit someone under 6'2" . The rear seat is different story . Anyone over 5'9" will hit their head . This also applies to both FIESTAs , YARIS (sedan) , FOCUS , and MAZDA 2 . The emissions is 9 for both ratings . Hope to test drive one soon . The oil filter and drain have very easy access . Be nice if this was available in a hatchback with the same powertrain . The spark plugs are good for 100,000 or was it 120,000 miles . The coolant is 100,000 or so . This car will give HONDA , TOYOTA , FORD , and the CRUZE a run for the money .

I'm guessing GM prefers to sell the 1.4L turbo rather than the 2.2L Ecotec. Its an interesting marriage: a GM 1.4L mated to a turbo, and an engine with such a small displacement powering a car the size of the Cruze (it is not a compact). The 1.4L turbo is supposed to be very fuel efficient, and this is also the ICE they have mated to the electric in the Volt.

Exactly, it would seem to me you didn't care if someone had this much money they would by X,Y,Z instead or I would pick X car over the Cruze. No value added there.

I thought your question was pretty simple.
