I've been playing around with the idea of getting one for handgun shooting. It would eliminate the need to set up and then take down paper targets. And would add a little more fun, as opposed to paper punching.

It would also cut down on the amount of crap I have to haul to the range. I could just toss it into my truck, and set it out there when I arrive. A can of contractor orange spray paint, and a few black pasties in the center, and it would also serve fairly well to sight in on.

I'm thinking about this one. It's simple, and it's made from 3/8" thick AR500 steel. They sell extra plates for it, should the need arise. I don't know if a .22 L.R. would have enough soup to swing them, but I mainly want it for my bigger calibers.

If anyone has one I would be interested to hear about your experiences.

I have a silhouette that has one of those on the top that swings to either side of the head. I forget the thickness but its rated for 30-06 at 100yds. Its a lot of fun and I'll be getting one of the tree's in the near future. A .22 won't budge mine but a 9mm will move it with authority. just hit it with some orange spray paint at the end of range day and it's good to go for the next time.

I will say it is HEAVY and not something I'd want to take to/from a range very often.. Thankfully mine can just stay in place.

I own a tree. They are fun, and worth the money. I have 1000s if not 10s of thousands of rounds on my second one. Sometimes portions crack, where the AR500 is cut at a right angle.

Get one.

I don't have a dueling tree but I have several of the spinning targets. They are fun also. I like the ones with a small top and big bottom. I used to be able to keep them spinning but haven't been able to for a while. Every now and then you turn them around and start pounding the steel back the other way after it gets dished or if someone hits a 22 rated one with a larger caliber.
