Never knew in the 1950/1960s they sold hot dog cookers to run off the cigarette lighter.

...with BOX AND INSTRUCTIONS!
I wonder what one's car smells like after a Summer road trip using that thing.
>>In Europe where intersections were designed as underground "plazas", the lingering grease of "schnell imbiss" (fast food) makes for a rancid, foul odor.
Note the prongs atop to hold the buns in place.

I've got a 120V cooker with the unfortunate name 'Coney Island Steamer' Steams the dog and a bun, one at a time.
I haven't seen one like above - my Dad would love it. We used to just double wrap hot dogs in foil and cook them on the engine during road trips.
I had one of those Coney Island Steamers when I was a kid. As an 8 or 10 year old, I loved it!

Does the cigarette lighter contraption run on 6 or 12 volt?

You could put a nail on each side of the hot dog, run 120V through it and do it much quicker. Remember the Presto Hotdogger? 😎

Smokey and the Bandit gains a new meaning. It's all about kitchen appliances for truckers on the road. Think 12 Volt dashboard smoker.
