Anyone here heat with wood/hard coal?

Conditions were perfect: shallow bed of hot coals, and I'm finally getting rid of an obstinate stump.

Is that wood a chunk of apple? Is the stove a Vigilant? I have a Defiant chucked into a purpose built center chimney. I burn mostly cherry and locust.
