Hi,

I have strong eyes, I dont wear glasses. I do get tired eyes and slight blurriness sometimes, as well as headaches that go between my left eye and the base of my neck at the back of the scull.

I pass eye tests with flying colors, at best the eye doctur said I have something like 1/4 of a prescription (dont recall exactly what he called it), due to an astigmatism, but it was too slight to correct.

However Im pretty sure it is enough to cause headaches and bad vision sometimes.

It comes and goes.

Anyone else have this sort of thing?

I have a slight astigmatism in my right eye. My eyesight is Left: 20/15 and Right: 20/25 so when looking at some things sometimes they look a little fuzzy, and it's hard to see. Otherwise my eyes are good.

I con cee just fune.

My one eye has poorer focus than the other. One eye sees more vibrant color than the other.

Since focus is poorer with an enlarged iris at night I have a set of standard nighttime lighted signs I use to check my vision. Some colors focus more poorly than others. If I eat any garlic focus and pain get worse.

i have a scratched cornea on my right eye. I paid 1700 to have a laser "shave" off some of the scar tissue and I dont think they were aggressive enough. I can see much better, but only at night with that eye. Daytime marginally better but coupled with more light sensitivity. We will see how much better it gets overtime. My left eye, 34 years old and perfect so far.

I just started wearing glasses a year or so back. Astigmatism in my right eye and near sighted in my left eye. The glasses give me more headachs than w/o them.

I can't see up close with them on. My vision is 20/40 and 20/35 so I'm still not required to wear glasses to drive which is good because all the reflections and rainbow colors at night drive me nuts.

I was bless with very good vision until I turned 40 and they seem to be getting worse as I approach 54 yrs of age.

I needed to get glasses to renew my DL in 2000.

Phonebooks & road maps forget it without reading glasses.

When was the last time you saw your general practitioner? Does he/she know about this? They need to. It may not be eye related. See your doctor.

I wear very weak glasses to correct astigmatism. My prescription is -0.5 diopter, cylindrical only. Optometrists are always surprised that I bother wearing glasses. It sounds like you might have a ±0.25 diopter prescription, which is the lowest possible correction.

In my eyes, the axes of the two lenses are inclined +45° for one eye and -45° for the other. Thus each eye sees perfectly in one plane, but the two planes are perpendicular. Consequently my brain puts together a slightly fuzzy image. The glasses help a lot (so much so that I can see better than anyone I know).

Also, I like having some eye protection. My glasses have saved my bacon more than a few times.

If I don't wear the glasses, my eyes do get tired by the end of the day. I don't get headaches, though. That part worries me a little bit. That said, your description sounds like a migraine. If you get migraines for other reasons, the vision issue could be a trigger.

Good luck getting this figured out.

same here, only my right eye will be clear if i don't eat for a good while. Then i can see super clear with both eyes.Yes, I've been checked for diabetes and it doesn't run anywhere in my family.

Wasnt trying to make light of something, just trying a little humor. You do need to tell your family doctor about this,if nothing else to make sure things are ok.

Astigmatism is correctable and a thing that, "now that you mention it, stuff was a little fuzzy..."

Do they have a better test than "is this better or worse" with the thing on your face?

When you get new glasses, wear them straight for a week before judging them. Takes a while for the brain to rebalance inputs from two working eyes.

Man, you guys are lucky. I'm essentially legally blind without glasses. I've become so nearsighted that's it's intolerable and I'll likely need bifocals soon, as each increase in prescription makes my distance vision better at the sacrifice of near vision.

I learned the hard way - if you do get prescription glasses for an astigmatism, get high index plastic with only the UV coating. Don't mess with the other coatings. They'll fog and scratch and start driving you mad. The worst for any astigmatism is polycarbonate.

I have astigmatisms in both eyes as well. It makes things slightly "off" and I have a light prescription for my glasses. I purchased some good prescription sunglasses (Raybans) for driving and outdoors that made a big difference. Even so, I still get headaches looking at computer monitors and under office lighting. We've switched to larger screens, but it doesn't help. Some of our labs have little to no lighting to reduce glare and help our clients - that seems to work as well as contrast differences.

By contrast differences, I mean changing the computer contrast (inverting colors) during the day tends to relieve the eye strain. I've chosen the dark contrast theme here on BITOG that helps me quite a bit.

I do consulting for the state and work with many blind and visually impaired clients. Eye sight isn't something to play with so I always suggest people see their opthamologist yearly.

Even so, most doctors don't know what is available to you. There are good products on the market to make vision loss easier to deal with. PM if you want to know something specific.

I have 20/20 vision in my right eye uncorrected and 20/15 vision in my left uncorrected and I wear glasses! The reason I do is exactly what your talking about. If I drive lond distances, get tired, or read a lot I get terrible neck headaches. I wear a very light perscription on both eyes and have something insane like 20/10 with my glasses on. Transitions lenses have been my go to for the last 4 years so I can just wear them all the time and not think about it. I just two months ago got a pair of rayban prescription sunglasses that I love but I have to bring my other glasses with me everywhere I go because your eyes get use to being even then if you take them off in the evening or when inside thats a lot of vision changes and I get the headaches.
