A friend of mine give me as a gift a case of Motul 8100 x-cess
5w-40 motor oil, since I always use 10w30 in my 2006 v6 4.0l 4runner,in the manual says 15w40 can be used, but I guess if I should expect some difference with this thicker oil, a decrease in the mpg or less acceleration or something like that.

I actually expected a more sluggish engine when I went from Castrol GTX 10w30 to Rotella-T Synthetic 5W-40 in my 5.0 EFI because one time I tried GTX 10W-40, and it didn't want to wind out as easy passed 4500RPM.

What I got with the RTS 5W-40 was easier revving and a more stable oil pressure after hot rodding. I've stuck with it since then and the engine actually gets better and better (less and less oil consumption). RTS 5W-40... I talk about it too much, but it's like a miracle. I've been bookmarking all UOA's of it that I find here, and as long as there isn't a mechanical problem in the vehicle, it does good in 4/6/8 cylinder gas or diesel engines of any output or use, no matter whether turbocharged or not.

Motul always does great, and their 5W-40 is an excellent oil. I like the 'idea' behind 5W-40, or even 0W-40. You get the slightly extra viscosity with out the glue-like thickness of a 15W-xx oil when cold. 5W-40 RTS cranked over very easy for me this passed winter with the temperatures well below freezing.
