Japanese outfit so pardon the crappy translation but they're also sold in the US.

15 micron full flow with integral magnet. They also have a 10 micron used for engine break in.

Experience or opinions?

The construction looks very much like Nippon.

I assume these are made up for them (this looks like a speed shop for 350Zs) by a major, much like Mobil and K&N have filters made for them by Champion Labs.

The magnet is expendable (you can use a magnetic drain plug or magnetic strap on the filter itself), the media is probably comparable to other high quality media found in European and American filters, but the mesh center post is something I've never seen before.

.

They don't say what the material of the "mesh" core is. My guess would be it is metal. And the style is expaned metal. The same diamond shape pattern you see on the outside of air filters.

Who knows maybe it's plastic..

LT4 ..I was looking real close at those inlet holes to see if one was bigger

That letter "M" on the baseplate reminded me of the telltale Champ "can't put the wrong one on" manufacturing technique.

..but this can't be...

Mel would have tagged it right away as a Champ, if it was.

Gary..Champ isn't exclusive to stamping a letter on the baseplate. But it might be. I didn't look that close this morning.

However, to my knowledge Champ doesn't do the mesh on the inside or if you noticed..outside as well..

Looks like it. As filterguy points out the expanded metal is an interesting design. I'm assuming it's a way to have good filtration and still maintain flow. These things are $18 a pop by the way so they'd better be doing something special. The 10 micron one they offer for engine break in specifically states not to run it for normal use so one has to wonder about the flow.

The 15 micron rating is an average rating. When using a 15 micron absolute rating, as in a stainless steel element you will have a problem with flow. So this filter must be doing something special to get good flow.
