Lovem.

When I went to my Grandmother's funeral, I was stopped for a phone call at Glenrowan.

A Dodge Travelall pulled up and I near wet myself, then a mid 60s Mustang...then TWO more Travelalls.

edit : looked at more...A guy at work is being paid to restore a Stanley Steamer.

Looks like the Hi-Ho on Walker Road 40yrs ago.

P.B.

Wasn't the HI-HO on Tecumseh rd. where the Maple Leaf restaurant is now?I'm not too familiar with that HI-HO.The one I allways went to was on Sandwich St. and Prince Rd.It was a little building with a fair sized parking lot, later it was a union hall of some-sort...now it's something else. What puzzled me was that A&W closed it's Huron Line store. That one and the Leamington drive-in were allways busy and I never knew why they closed them

One of my favorite oldies was a 59 Dodge Power Wagon that I restored and sold to a collector in California. It was a real head turner.

Great website-thanks!

Sometimes I wonder why I sold some of the cars I have owned. One reason, I want at least one car that I can just drive and not mess with. Old cars are a hobby, best enjoyed when the trip is as much fun as the destination.

Define "old"?

Without even visiting the linked site I can tell you that I'm MUCH more into the fun and value represented by older vehicles that the concept of a $31,850 2006 Audi A3 2.0 T Auto DSG (Motor Trend, June 2006, page 164), or a $29,730 Buick Lucerne 3.8 that won't go 100 mph (same issue), or even an (estimated) $30K 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid... A $25,850 Saturn Sky?

Sheep! Baaaaaaaaaaaa!

I like my '88 420SEL for $2,300 with 2 years of plates, registration and 4 new tires. Our "last (in both senses of the word) new" vehicle was a Subaru SVX in 1992 and it has 130K+, gets almost 30 mpg on the highway, has all-wheel drive, will go 140, and will last another decade or so, hopefully.

Cheers!

Very nice website. There is an old car festival coming up at Greenfield Village here in Dearborn, Michigan, Sept 9 and 10. They will have everything from about 1934 back to steamers. Greaser, you could make that show from Windsor easily. Here is the web link.

Papa Bear...The Dairy Freeze has been in operation since '54 I believe. On week-ends you can't find a parking spot to get in!That just goes to show you that people still find a "cruise & ice cream" a relaxing pastime. If you see a Jeep TJ (Wrangler)that has "Fabs TJ" on custom license plates come over and say hello, thats me.There are a few places around Essex county that cater to cruise nights...The Meadows in Coulchester (recently re-opened),Noodle Factory in Leamington has a very big cruise night(Wednesday nights I believe)with great food & drink specials and then there is the Market Square on Walker & Ottawa St. in Windsor.I use to go to the Roundhouse cruise night across from the Devonshire Mall by McDonalds till it got built up with other stores in that area.Tall Paul thanks for the info on the Greenfield Village. Will look into it!People don't realize how much blood, sweat & tears go into a hobby car.To most people it's just a car.May-be this is bit weird but to me a beloved vehicle is a member of the family, like a pet, that needs constant attention ,TLC,and will give years of enjoyment.
