Anybody here use Duracool refrigerant replacement?

I've only read a few posts here and the product seems to work for those people.

I have two older heat pumps, 1988 and 1990 using R22, that work pretty good, but I've heard Duracool HC refrigerent will make them run cooler, blow cooler air, last longer, sess prone to leak due to larger molecule size and lower pressures, and less expensive to run. I might give it a try, unless I hear of reasons not to.

Anybody have any experience with that?

They also make a replacement for CFC-12 and HFC-134a (R134a), and CFC-502 (R-502).

Advantages touted are neglibible global warming, non-ozone depleting, energy efficient, non-corrosive, lower operating head pressure, non-toxic, adds life to A/C and refrigeration equipment.

I've been using Red Tek refrigerant in my Tercel, which is also a HC refrigerant and I'd think to be pretty similar to duracool.

I'll start by saying my AC system is a chronic refrigerant leaker, which is why I am using it ( here in Canada you cannot buy R-134a without a license). The compressor is pretty worn out too, its noisy and the system does not cool well until the car gets moving.

It works at least as well in it as R134a did.

It is proven that HC refrigerants use less energy to cool than CFC/HFCs do. You install about 1/3 of the volume of a HC compared to CFC for the same system.

One definite downside compared to HFC/CFC is that it is flammable. From what I understand its basically a blend of highly purified propane/butane or similar gasses. Any refrigerant however becomes flammable once inside a system due to the oil vapor it carries.

I have used Enviro-safe ( same thing) in my cars and my home AC. Works perfectly. It has been in one of my cars now for 4 summers. Topped up once.
 
It is a violation of EPA rules to use HC refrigerants in anything other than industrial refrigeration systems.

This despite the fact that HC refrigerants are being used in refrigerators and freezers in Europe.
 
And that's pretty much only an EPA reg to keep hickbillys from charging AC systems with propane or butane. The HC refrigerants are much better today than 20-30-40 years ago, and I don't see any reason they wouldn't be suitable for commercial, residential, and automotive use.
