Anyone watch the show, South Park? I just watched it for my first time tonight and found the characters to be a bit silly. Didn't care for the show that much.

Any fans on here?

It grows on you. The characters are well developed by now but the plots they're thrown in are a bit nuts. If you watch beyond the gross-out factor there's some spot-on social commentary. They make fun of everyone and remain politically neutral. The newest episodes are, or at least could be, banged out from conception to air in under a week. When Saddam was found in his spidey hole, his bearded image was reflected in an animated character just days later.

I hated it when it first came out.

Then, as eljefino pointed out, I realised that it's got some very sharp commentary...still sickens me sometimes.

You've got to look into yourself sometimes. The episode where they were smuggling a goat to Afghanistan, telling the guards that it was Stevie Nicks was funny as heck after I stopped being outraged.

I like the show. Sometimes I am in the mood to watch it sometimes not. Read the last sentence of the disclaimer flashed by at the beginning. Total spoof! something like "This show is not suitable for viewing by anyone at anytime."

Watch it from time-to-time.

As mentioned, social commentary present along with plenty of spoofing.

Got a kick out of the episode referring to a certain religion wherein the background "singers" kept repeating: "dum dum dum dum dum" that actually meant to convey the word "dumb."

Some of the humor may be considered as sick by some but here in the shanty that is preferable to the majority of sit-coms with their abrasive laugh-tracks that Coot, for some reason, very seldom laughs along with.

Eventually, when the price plummets or used ones appear, Coot will likely buy the DVDs since I have only viewed a portion of the many episodes.

I agree with Drew. It's political/social satire and the writers/creators are brilliant. Awesome show.

If you can get past the horribly foul language, the show will make you laugh your * off. I think it's very funny.

I haven't watched it in a while; do they still Kenny regularly?

southpark is great. ive been watching it off and on sence it first came out and each year it seems to get betetr, more mature. hey just like real kids growing up perhaps.

When it first came out over 10 years ago, someone taped the show so we could all watch it over lunch the next day in the conference room.

Yes the true non-PC show available to all.

can't get over that they actually put the kid 'Token' on, of course sporting the great big T.
Then one episode's speach by Token's father with spot on social commentary.

The show is great (not so much with the newer season, but Seasons 1-9 are classics), and I have to agree with MarkC's statement. It's good to see a show bash everything instead of being biased to one side.

"Tom, you can come out of the closet now."

obbop, put an aerial on top of your shanty, seasons 1-8 are in broadcast syndication-- at least most of them.
