Any one tried these pads?

I had a set of OEM rotors (Balo, I think) put on the 530i about 20k miles ago. They still appear to be straight.

There's a lot of things that can cause warping... uneven pad material deposit is probably most common, followed by improperly cleaned hubs prior to rotor mounting. Unevenly torqued lugbolts supposedly also cause issues.

He was probably talking about that specific application. Lots of vehicles have no problems with rotor warping. My ex's '93 MX-6 original rotors are still perfect at 130k miles, while my mother's '99 Sunfire rotors seem to warp the instant they touch the hub!

My mom's corolla at 180k still has the OEM rotor, not worn or warp.

My Integra's OEM rotor didn't warp at 150k, and the replacement rotor didn't warp at 220k

The only OEM rotor I have seen that warp at 30k and 70k again after turning is the OEM Ford/Motorcraft, and on this car from what I know it is a common problem. Undersized brake seems to be the problem (along with other undersized suspension parts like tierod end link, ball joints, etc).

The 'Stop Tech' guy goes so far as to say that he's never seen a warped rotor.
He blames everything on improper pad material transfer to the rotor.

Nice article but i cant agree with everything he said in it. I have seen rotors warp due to cheap materials. Sumetimes they come out the box and they not round. Whether it was a manufacturing defect or poor handling it aint always the pad that causes it

Yes ,but the midas touch mythical $1000 brake job which always includes rotors and calipers has perpetuated the myth of warped rotor instead of explaining run out and pad deposition and the fact that almost every caliper i have had someone try to sell me was fine. I also have a couple good friend mechanics who swear that they only see 1-2 bad calipers a year. The rest they sell are to please greedy bosses.
Poor installation/bedding practices cause 90% of early brake failures. Yes we are seeing a lot of bad rotors out of the box , but a good mechanic checks every one during installation and rejects them.
I do my own brakes or my mechanic buddy does some. We have never had a set of pads/rotors go less than 40000 and some have gone 100000. The only caliper problems are stuck sliders which if you are not careful or lazy might be broken/ poorly fixed and have to be replaced sooner than later. Its all in the choice of a mechanic and care of the installation.
The taurus has some specific problems which must be addressed like a heavy front end that overloads the front brakes and causes too much heat ,poor suspension sway bar bushings that wear out early, a perpetual rusty surface between the hub and rotor that must be cleaned as well as wheel lugs that should be hand torqued. Good quality ferro carbon pads that dissipate heat help as well as bedding the pads every few months like car-tech talks about. I hope this helps someone solve their taurus brake problems.

+1 Wagner Thermoquiet ceramics along with Wagner rotors (made in USA). Best combo I have ever tried.

I am using wagners on my ranger pickup.Another $20 ebay pickup. 60000 miles on originals and put wagners semi metallic on with no rotor turning. I know. a pad slap. well ,its 5000 miles and they stop perfect plus I towed a 3000 pound trailer 600 miles with no problems. clean all surfaces and grease sliders!!

I have Centric rotors and PFC carbon metallic pads on the front axle of my Grand Marquis. After 40,000 miles the pads are still at ~50% and the rotors haven't warped.
