Any Office 2013 Users Yet?

I just bought a copy of Office 2013 for $10 through my organization's Home Use Program. I installed it on my old Compaq Presario C300 laptop, our only Windows machine in the house. It seems to run pretty good. This machine has W7, 2GB RAM, 80 GB HDD.

I like the refreshed interface's functionality, but I'm not quite sold on the "flat" look yet. It doesn't look like real Windows; it looks like one of those older Windows programs where they didn't use the standard Windows menuing system, but instead wrote their own look-alike system. I guess this is largely a function of me running this on a W7 machine, though, as everything about W7's interface has some depth dimension to it. I know W8 is much flatter, so Office 2013 probably integrates better.

Anyway, anyone using 2013 full-time? Happy with the performance, the look and feel, the functionality? So far, I like it, but I don't use this computer much.

I do have Office for Mac 2011 on our iMac, and look forward to Microsoft releasing a new version of Office for the Mac...maybe with SkyDrive integration.

I have been using 2013 Word since February. I do not like the extra steps to save a file. It takes you to a white screen to save as a document.

I did the same (purchased via HUP) and have been using it exclusively on my desktop and laptop at home. I find many of the new features to be good and I have bought extra space on the SkyDrive for pittance. Word and Outlook are the two primary tools that I use (I am writing a novel using Word and thus far it is working quite well--but I would expect that 2010 down to 2000 would be the same). I also use LibreOffice at times on a Linux Mint USB stick (but I digress). There are a few extra steps when saving documents where you have to choose local or Skydrive, but that is OK with me considering that I can access the documents anywhere via Internet (I also save in parallel to Google Drive so that I have a mirrored copy of all of my files).

With all of that said, would I pay full price for Office 2013? It would be very doubtful as I have/had Office 2010 and the upgrade benefits would be marginal. If I had Office 2000-2003, I would definitely consider the upgrade as it contains quite a few perks above those versions. Each version of Office tends to improve from the prior and I think this one is an improvement over 2010. I am happy with it over 2010--for the price that I paid

Folks running financial computations on Excel learned quickly that performance of the new one is so much higher. So, for them, upgrade is a must.

Using Office 2013 (as part of Office365) for a few months.

The [censored] who decided that "white" and "grey" were the only color schemes necessary deserves to be drawn and quartered.

Other than that, it has been excellent so far. The web apps run in Chrome on Linux, and it can use OpenOffice file formats.

Excel 2013 absolutely blows away OpenOffice / LibreOffice calc when working with large data sets.

Overall, very good.
