out of curiosity how many of you use M1 in your gears (not tranny)? if so have any of you had a UOA done? or know that it works as well as they say they do?

I'm using it in the rear of my Subaru. No UOA from me. Hopefully Exxon has not cheapened the gear oil over the last few years, since taking over Mobil.

well imo they have.. a handful of very knowledgable guys have mentions (as far as the motor oil goes) that they have gone very sub par as far as wear is concerned.. i cant say more than that but considering the source i wont use M1 in my motor but as for the gears no issues so far lol.

I've used M1 in manuals, transfer cases, and front/rear-ends with no problems. No UOAs but I've never seen a failure caused by M1 gear or motor oils.

??? What does this contribute other than speculation?
