Why would an old guy sit in his Crown Vic along a fairly busy street at least from late afternoon to after nightfall every day for six months? For all I know, he's there all day, but I see him only when I'm riding my bike. The car (pretty clean) is always parked along the same stretch of road and the guy behind the wheel looks often like he's sleeping. He's maybe in his seventies, he's dressed okay and doesn't look like he is living out of his car. For a while I figured he was just checking out the female joggers who run by all day long, but he's sitting there even in the dark when the only people who come by are folks with dogs and people dropping stuff in the lake. Six months is a long time. What's going on?

Oh mori, here is that dumb statement you were waiting on, why don't you go knock on his window and ask him.

Maybe he's that guy from the joke where the old guy has millions of dollars, lives in a huge home, has a beautiful young sexy life...

And can't remember who the #@$%! he is???

I think it's time for a stakeout. Anybody wanna come? Bring steaks and we'll make it a steakout from behind the shrubs.

Maybe I'll put on my ghillie suit, sneak up on him and take his picture for all our amusement.

PS: Asking him what he's doing there is out of the question!

Should I call the cops and tell 'em I think D.B. Cooper is hanging out at Lake Merced?

When I was going for an engineering cadetship at Dept Defence, there was a Green Toyota Corona parked in the public cara park across from my parents place for close to two weeks, with a guy inside reading a paper (must have been a slow reader, as the Canberra Times wasn't all that good). We waved every time we went out.

He dissappeared, and a week later I was told I had the job.

Pure coincidence.

We had people keeping an eye on some mafia in my hood growing up. They would do the same thing. Stakeout.

From where he sits he can see the sidewalk/bike and jogging path, the road and a couple apartment buildings on the other side of the road. He has no obvious spy gear and never seems alert with his chin sunken onto his chest and his eyes closed.

Coot taking a guess.

Old guy has a shared living situation, perhaps all he can afford.

Either has to or wants to get out of the abode.

Car is being used as a faux living room.

Might be listening to radio, taking naps, watching the world go by.....

whatever it takes to get out of the house.

"Time to kill"?

Okay, normally I would not post pictures of anyone who doesn't know about it or who doesn't allow it. However, this guy is in a public area (or rather has been for six months!) and I am not posting his tags or a recognizable image of him.

Pictures taken a couple hours ago, at the 1,600 ASA setting due to low light and long lens:

His car from behind: It has CA tags (not expired) and is clean.

As I said, he may be checking out the joggers. Well, good luck with that, buddy.
