Any Ideas How GTL Lubes May Affect Prices?

The Pearl Refinery co-op in Qatar has gone online and GTL oils are going to be more pervasive in the market. The first shipments are expected in the US around August. With the carmakers wanting higher standards for lubes ie. GM's dexos specs and GF-6 "expected" in 2015. Do you see the base-oil costs increasing? Will GTL and better technology be worth the cost if so?

Just some questions and food for thought. Please chime in.

I am no tribologist, but isn't PAOs already made from natural gas? If so, then I don't see base stocks increasing because of higher standards of oil unless demand outstrips supply.

The prices should increase due to the devaluation on the dollar if for no other reason.

I thought GTL is still group 3 + tech?

it has " many properties " of PAO but they never say anything about how well it stands up to higher heat and its durability so i'll wait back and see ...
