So it has quietly blown over and he got away with it?
It looks that way.
Heard somewhere he will be back at the last minute with new documents.
Of course. Right-wing radio is reporting a leaked memo from Mark Halperin at ABC news telling people to go a little harder on Bush to "level the playing field".
Mary Mapes @ See-BS had a university professor "prove" the documents could have been made with a 1972 typewriter. But, the internet cruisers blew holes in his work before he had a chance to polish it up (read - make his forged "proof" more convincing) for the last week in October. Odds are See-BS News will find one more "expert" to validate the documents just in time, say, October 29th.
To date, 4 radio stations have dropped See-BS News and a fifth is about to. Rathergate.com has a nice link where you can email all See-BS sponsors and let them know how you feel.
I wouldn't say that See-BS News got away with it. Jay Leno and David Letterman were pretty ruthless, and the genie is out of the bottle. Ultimately it is up to those who were offended to keep up the noise in any way that is effective. I find the rathergate mass emailer to be quite useful
