Good choice of motor oil. It is made by Shell Oil Products United States who makes the great Pennzoil and Shell products as well. Use with absolute confidence !

My BMW shop recommends and sells QS Euro for all their customers. It must be available somewhere over the rainbow.

Interesting. Maybe it's direct-purchase, as I've not seen it for sale online in quite a while.

1. Pennzoil
2. Quaker State
3. Valvoline
4. Castrol
5. Use to be Havoline
6. All the rest

The only thing that has changed since 1985 on this list is that Castrol use to be #3 and Valvoline was #4 until about a year ago.

If you want to become a member of NPD you can send them a check for $2,500.00 for a years subscription and they will send you a report every month. NPD does market share research for every thing that you can think of from motor oil, dish washing soap, laundry soap, to under ware. They have been the go to source since 1965. As for as I know every major oil company in North America uses them.

Thanks even though I can't see myself spending that type of coin to see who is selling the most lol. The list you stated has to be off of dino sales. I think Mobil is easily winning the sys sales race.

I believe the list is accurate. I saw an industry report recently that had the same market share distribution order. The report had quatitative market data. If I find it online, I will post a link.

The NPD market share list quoted above is for each brand's entire product line. For only synthetic (segment) motor oil market share (NPD, 2008), it is

1. Mobil 1 - 60%
2. Castrol Syntec - 25%
3. Vavoline - 5%
4. Pennzoil - 4%
5. Quaker State - 4%
6. Other - 2%
