Any BITOGers near Biloxi MS?

Headed to Biloxi next week to visit sister and brother-in-law, they just moved into retirement housing on base at Kessler. I know we are going to get seafood at Boomtown, catch some blues at Ground Zero, and head over to Orange Beach AL. to see whats it's like. That area is on the short list for possible relocation someday. Anything else someone down there might suggest we see/do? Will be there for 5 days, short trip this time.

Oh, forgot. Buc-ees in Pass Christian too .

USS Alabama is on the way to Orange Beach. My parents took me several times to Gulf Shores to camp, good memories.

Based on where you live according to your profile, you **should be** traveling through Montgomery, AL (where I am) to get to your destination in Biloxi. Can't comment a lot on things to do in Biloxi but Orange Beach (and Gulf Shores) will be well worth your time. Just the beaches alone are far prettier than the Biloxi beaches. I have no idea why that it is.

Know that per the map, Biloxi does not seem like a far drive from Orange Beach at 115 miles but it is right at a 2 hour drive. It is mostly I-10 and then you take exit 49 to get on to the Baldwin Beach Express to go to Orange Beach. Also at exit 49 is a Bucee's. Highly recommend stopping there to gas up and visit in the store. Not sure how familiar you are with the chain but it is almost a religious experience. BTW, if you are traveling down I-85 from SC, you should be traveling through Auburn, AL once you cross over into AL and there is a Bucee's there as well that you could visit to see what it is like.

Hit up Darwell’s in Long Beach. Amazing food. The owner is an actual chef and will discuss the food items with you. My experiences there have been above and beyond each time. It was featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.”

As for the beaches, it’s due to the different ratios of quartz to sand/clay. The further west you get, the more you hit “the emerald coast”. Source: Wife and I are from the FL panhandle.

Yep. And it winds around to Gulf Coast of AL and MS from what I hear. Other sister and brother-in-law Live in Gulf Breeze FL and have a condo they rent in Pensacola right on a thin strip of the peninsula between the bay and gulf waters. Watched the Blue Angels on the beach at the "Beach Ball" several times and the sand/water are fantastic.

We spend a week in Dauphin Island every year. Its awesome. If you want a "party animal" atmosphere, try Gulf Shores, but understand there will be crowds of college kids and traffic. Go to The Hangout.

If you want to chill in a beautiful, peaceful place, go to Dauphin Island. Its very unique, woods of tall pines on one end and sandy beaches on the other. Incredibly clean.

For eats, Pirates Bar & Grill for sure! Their shrimp fettuccini Alfredo is da bomb!

We vacation in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. GS has the Gulf Coast Zoo which is pretty cool. If you're willing to drive over to Pensacola, they have the National Naval Aviation Museum which I really enjoyed. We got to see the Blue Angels practicing for a show the last time we visited. As weird as it sounds, when we go to GS/OB we don't really do anything except chill and relax. We used to do regular touristy stuff but not anymore. The seafood down there isn't anything that I can't get in North AL with a little effort. The beach is beautiful. Watch for jellyfish, sharks, and rip currents. Have fun!!!

VERY familiar with the love child of Cracker Barrel and 7-11, and yes, it IS a religious experience. I've been to 3 in TX, New Braunfels, Temple, and Denton, the 1 you mentioned in Auburn as well as Loxley AL, Daytona and St. Augustine FL, Brunswick GA, Florence SC, and Sevierville TN. Sometimes I think we plan trips around The Beaver's house . Every time I go to one, I find something different there. I've also been playing progressive gas pump "bingo". Each one I go to I will fill up at the next pump number from the last location I was at. When we hit the first one in AL this trip, I will have to find pump # 21 to get gas at. Will also visit the new location at Pass Christian which is about 30 mins. from my SIL. Can't wait for the Anderson SC location to break ground, it will be within 30 minutes of my house. Now, just have to figure out what flavor beef jerky I want.

Yep, most of the seafood down there can be had in the Huntsville metro almost just as fresh.
