any benefit to a rinse and Auto-Rx trans

Frank since we have your attention have you done research on a maintenance dose in the transmission ,differential and powersteering pump to keep it clean as well as "it seems things are smoother when A/RX is in the oil" lower wear?

Have not however you can,t hurt anything by using a maintenance dose of 1/2 ounce in transmission fluid -power steering unit. (These fluids are base hydraulic fluids) regarding the differential which contains gear oil I would use 1 ounce.

Frank are we saying that all of the time use or we can use:

1) 1/2 ounce in Powersteering and transmision fluid.
2) 1 ounce in the differential.

If we do this can we still change our fluids when we are supposed to or do we have to change it sooner. An example would be differential fluid that is changed at 100,000 miles. With a Maintenance Dose would we cut that in half to 50,000 miles.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I put some in my noisy 91 Ranger power steering pump ( Trans Fluid) awhile ago when I first got it, and it ended up making it a lot quieter than it was

In somewhat sealed units, such as an automatic Trans, manual gear box, or front or rear differentials, running the cleaning dose will clean up deposits, suspend into the existing fluid or lubricant and be removed with the drain. In these applications a rinse is not necessary. Merely fill with fresh lubricant and be assured that you drained out a great majority of the contaminants that likely occured during the past service life.

If you are planning an ATF, manual gear lube, power steering fluid change again in 30K, you may consider a maintenance dose for lubricity. Otherwise, I would call it a day and rely on the fresh fluid/lubricant in a cleaned envirnoment to serve you well.
