Ant infestations.

Amdro is the best off the shelf Ant poison I have ever used.

South Florida Fire Ants response.......

Now this makes sense.....
First, baits are either sugar based or protein based. Ants will take one or the other, depending on what they want to feed on at the moment. So the pros will put down two different types of baits to see what the ants want at that time.
And most sprays (not all, but most) are repellents. You do not mix repellants with baits. Its counterproductive.

Any ideas how to reduce or eliminate ant infestations? When the weather gets hot, ants seems to be more aggressive. I've used these baits with limited success in the past.

Yeah, I know I'm a bit late to this post, but honestly, just call in the pros. I tried dealing with them myself and nothing worked until I finally hired a professional team (I worked with All Solutions Pest Control). With summer right around the corner, these insects are about to go crazy again. Save yourself the headache and let the experts handle it!

Every time I had ants in the house, I examined the outer perimeter of my house. There was always a nest under a landscape rock. I treated chemically or dumped boiling water on the nest. That destroyed the nest and that always ended the inside infestation of ants.

The Terro liquid works on their gathering spot inside as the scouts will take the bait back to the queen. You have to resist the urge to kill them and let them have access to the bait.
Yes, the Ants normally come from outside perimeter , have to kill the source for Best result.

Had similar problem and finally got rid of them.

Depends on the ants they may prefer different baits, I found that mine prefer beef and egg yolks, quite an expensive taste. I had to blend my own bait with egg yolk and borax instead of the sugar one from the store.

I also found that they don't kill the colony even if they keep dying left and right. After about 1 week of bait and ants slowly dying I end up finding the entry point and add a drop of pyrethrin based pesticide at the entry point into the house, along the way instead of on the bait. Over time that would kill enough of them and deplete the colony of workers. This combination works together well.
