Another oil change question

Has anyone tried using the Non-Euro Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 on a 2003 Jetta GLS 2.0?

There should be no problem right? Cause it's not turbo?

And if I use this. Can I still follow the manual's a year or 10k mile oil change interval since this oil is not a VW approved?

The 2.Slo will run on ANYTHING. Forget about VW specs. VW specs are for extended drains with high speed driving and turbos.

If you want to go 10k, Ultra is a good oil to do it. I would not choose it if consumption was an issue though, rather a high-miles oil or something slightly thicker.

I'd use Mobil 1 5w30 HIGH MILES in colder weather or in your case, the 10w30 HIGH MILES is a bit thicker in hot and cold. The Mobil 1 High Mileage line is very good and is essentially made for Euro engines, not that the 2.Slo needs anything special.

Dino ir a regular high miles 10w30 would be fine too, changed at 5k. If you want any more specifics, just ask.

Ultra or any thin 30 weight synthetic would be only suitable if you have low consumption,

I use 5-30 Kendall semi syn (read as any good 5-30) in my '98 2.0 100,000 miles runs great. I do 5,000 mile changes for as long as I've owned it.

Keeping an eye on oil consumption is often more important in these engine than what is actually run in them.

Actually your right. My current fillis Mobil 1 0w-40 and my 2.sl0 is been drinking it. I still have 2 months left before the next oil change and my car is about to finish drinking my 5th quart of
0w-40.

Is T6 5w-40 good for oil consuning car?

Yeah I think you're ready to change to the HM 5 or 10w30 as suggested above. Monitor it and post the results.

About 300ml left on the 5qt bottle. I lost the my record for the mileage. But my guess like 6k miles, I think.

You got some good info for your car from the posters above.
I'm not familiar with the engine, but using 5 quarts in 6k miles would have me changing the situation pronto.
You might want to check on vwvortex.com and ask those users what works best and if your "using" situation is normal or if you have an engine problem to address.
