Thanks to our local weather conditions, this is something I'm having to do ever so frequently. I didn't take pictures before I started, but then again I wasn't expecting the headlights to turn out this good either. They were your typical yellow, hazed headlights though.
I started off by washing the headlights with dish washing detergent, then dumped them in a hot bucket of water and detergent for about half an hour. When I took them out, I gave them a good rinse and started to sand with 600 grit. Took it one step further to 1,200 grit and finally 2,000 grit. At the end of it, the headlights were as dull as an old light bulb.
Each headlight was treated 10 times with 3M Scratch Remover afterwards. I finally washed them, treating each with Colgate toothpaste a la dvldoc! Final step was Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #20 Polymer Sealant.
Couple of pictures I took with my iPhone. The headlights actually look clearer in person.
As part of my Marauder conversion, I'm going to get the headlights clearcoated prior to installation during the paint job. Can't afford to spend crazy money on a special order part, and have it look bad a month later.
