I cannot find any flagship phones with removable storage. I also do not wish to use cloud storage when I have a very large storage server at home. Is there a good way to backup my phone photos to a windows file share folder? Its windows server 2022.

Flagship phones wants us to pay for cloud storage. How about a premium Moto device?

Why can't you use a data cable and move the photos into a folder on your PC? You may need to turn on developer mode to allow USB mass storage access.

That's what I do, i.e., use a USB cable.

I have a Google Pixel 8 and I just find the setting that deals with connected devices, etc. It will allow you to "browse" all of the folders on the phone and drag-drop to wherever you like. I'm not certain but I don't "think" you need to be in Developer Mode...but maybe.

I been out of the tech scene for some while now I use tech daily but don't know all the ins and outs like I once did. But using the cable sounds like you got a good method on your hands.
