An electric car I could live with...

What they need to do is make this like a bigger version of the slot cars we had as kids where you can pick up electricity as you drive on the main freeways. You could even have a joy stick controller.

What worries me about eletric cars is, where is all the eletricity going to come from when it comes to charging all these eletric cars? We the sheep are always being asked to conserve eletricty cause there isn't the infrastructure for our demands.

The electric car will be part of that solution, believe it or not. It will enable load leveling and peak shaving that will let us run generation more efficiently and better utilize the resources we have. This is long term but it is talked about quite a bit at the grid interconnect level.

Yeah, that quick charger at 70 amps for 3 hours will have the electric meter on the side of the house smoking.

Mass produced electric cars for the masses will never arrive... too much to lose by the big lobbyist that survive off oil.

Drop that price about 80k and I'd be interested

From Car and Driver:

"On the autobahn, most drivers were oblivious to the Tesla, with the exception of a particular Porsche 911 driver. From time to time, he would speed up in an attempt to leave us behind. But the Tesla accelerated in an eerily quiet and effortless manner all the way to 124 mph. After several miles, the 911 driver let us take the lead, and that is when we noticed the Tesla’s range indicator had just 68 miles remaining. It had been about 45 minutes since leaving Munich with a fully charged 53-kWh battery pack. So we were faced with exiting the autobahn and heading back to Munich or finding a facility to recharge the Tesla, not to mention finding something to occupy ourselves for the eight to 10 hours it would take. Not much of a choice, we thought, as we turned the electric toy around.

TMC actually owns part of Tesla:

Tesla press release

I've also heard that they will co-build an electric version of the RAV-4 in the future.

Does the Tesla still use 1,000's of little batteries? I never liked the sound of that, although I really don't know that much about it. Are there electrical connections for each individual battery? Seems subject to maintenance issues down the line to me.

Yes, I believe a whole lot of 18650 batteries paralleled. Just wait until one gets an internal short...

Almost perfect. Is there enough room for a Honda or Yamaha generator in the trunk?

At that price, I would think that they could make it even lighter.
