An Angel just flew by my window

I've never heard anything louder than B-1B doing a fly over at an Air Force Academy football game. Dude cam in low and slow from the east (what a menacing sight!), cranked it full afterburner, and did a spiraling acsent over the stadium. DEAFENING!!!

Louder than 4 F-15s doing flyovers and climbing out straight up on full afterburner.

Some of the more interesting times whiling away the hours off the grid immediate post-Katrina was watching and hearing all the heliocopters flying overhead from our front porch. Lots of them. Some of them were black.

I have also seen pairs of A-10's on low level flights over my house. Just don't touch that trigger, boys. Probably out of Eglin AFB or Belle Chasse Naval Station but I'm not sure.

The official name of the F-16 is (Fighting?) Falcon, Viper is a nickname that most who are involved with it prefer, much like the A-10 is the Thunderbolt II, and is more often referred to as the Warthog.

From what I've been told the units that call themselves viper generally are flying c/d models with a ground support/attack role with GE engines and a avionics package for ground support.
