I would like to be fixed about them. Many of peoples said AMSOIL XL serie are Group III based oil. But I send an email directly to AMSOIL and he said to me that XL serie are Full synthetic oil. This is a real synthetic or not??

How did you ask the question?

XL is Group III, and it is synthetic. I used to think NO Group III's should be called synthetic - but some of the Grp III base oils barely resemble dino/petro base oils.

The base oil for XL and the formulation are amazingly robust and surprised me, big time.

The Amsoil XL series motor oils are very popular and a successful product line for Amsoil.

It is, however, a Group III conventional oil, but can be labeled "full synthetic" based on the current practices used in the lubricants industry.

Thank you for contacting AMSOIL with your concerns.

In response to your inquiry, AMSOIL XL series oils are not blends. They are 100% synthetic. The only blend we offer is AMSOIL Synthetic Blend 15W40 Diesel Oil (PCO), which is clearly labeled as a blend. I’m not sure where these rumors start or why, but please help us clear this up.

Thank you again for the opportunity to respond to your concerns. As always, please feel free to contact us again if we can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,
Jim Van

100% synthetic though can be group III, which is what the XL line is.

I thought the blend was with Group III to make the 15-40 Syn-Blend? Now I am confused...So Amsoil buy's Dino only for the 15-40 Syn/Blend?

Don or Pablo...can you elaborate on this?

Thanks Pablo, so group II would be like a Delo quality oil mixed with a group IV synthetic to make the finished oil?

I think I am getting it...How can you determine group ratings on different brand oils?

ok, thanks. I'm fixed. I thinks AMSOIL XL are a good choice for the price, I use since one year and i'm satisfied.

But I have an other question, Castrol Syntec are group III. But what is the difference in the composition of this oil because the quality are very different.

SLevesque, however did you come to the conclusion the quality of North American Castrol Syntec is "very different"? There are so few North American Syntec used oil analysis archived on BITOG that no one knows what the performing quality of these Castrol oils is.

XL line is excellent and is a group III oil. Group III's can be called synthetic which is why they said they are a full synthetic.
