Amsoil XL 5W-20 Towing

I have been reading posts where there has been some question as to how stout the latest gen of Amsoil XL 5W-20 is.

Towing 4000 pounds in high temps with a Jeep GC with 5.7 hemi using 5000 mile oil and filter change intervals am I getting a high enough level of protection with the XL product?

Should I be bumping up to a more stout synthetic?

You are getting plenty of protecdtion with that set-up.

But it's Amsoil, so everyone will try to talk you out of it.

(and not any reason actually factually related to the oil)

If your jeep calls for 5w20, you'll be just fine.

Yes the Jeep calls for 5W-20 for the MDS.

The dealer already gave me a hard time on a warranty claim as they blamed it on me not running 5W-20 oil.

Luckily I have the receipt showing I was running approved 5W-20 oil.

I don't get the whole MDS has to have 5W-20 oil thing.

I know MDS works just fine with 5w40.

The 5w20 thing is usually something to do with the variable valve timing and displacement on demand.

The Hemi's in the dodge 2500 and 3500's (that i'm aware of) don't have it, so they recommend 5w30
