I have been using Redline 5w-30 but have been curious about the new SSO 0w-30. What has been seen, if anything in these 4.0 toyotas using this oil? I spoke with Terry Dyson a while back and he seemed to think this oil was very well suited for my engine, but I still would appreciate any of your opinions/experiences.

I'm not familiar with Redline5w30 nor Amsoil SSO 0w30 but FYI...if your engine is the 2006 "1GR-FE", Toyota's TSB# EG018-06 now calls for 5w20.

Not an SSO user but ive used their HDEO an TSO for most of my 3.4L's life. Never done anything over 7500 miles. Currently im running Auto Rx and GTX 5W30. So far i like what i hear with this oil...i thought i would never say this but i maybe a convention man for now on.

Good to know. I might just go with Amsoil ASM 0w-20 if thats the case. Hopefully it will work in my g/f's 05 3.3 Camry SE as well. Buying all kinds of different weight oils is going to start to P**s me off!

Although it looks like many of the major auto makers are switching over to the 5w-20's in V-6 applications and others.

5W-20 is not mandated by the TSB. You can use either 5W-20 or 5W-30 in the GR Series. I use the Amsoil SSO in my Toyota 4GR-FSE (Lexus IS 250). I am just about to do my first oil analysis with it. Changed from Mobil 1 EP 5W-30 due to high iron. I am very happy with the SSO so far, the car runs great on it.
