Has anyone used Amsoil Severe Gear lube in any

manual transmission? I wonder how it would

react to any copper or yellow metal? Also would

the iron-sulfide make shifting harder?

It doesn't attack "yellow metal" and is GL-5/MT-1 rated - I have no reports of hard shifting.

But on the other hand it's not GL-4 rated so not a whole bunch of folks are using it in some of the pickier transmissions or one that need the thinner MTL type stuff.

The Amsoil Severe Gear formulations are somewhat thicker than the old Series 2000 gear lubes and are really more for HD differential use.

I'd recommend the Redline MTL or MT-90 as appropriate in this case.

Why don't you contact MolaKule at Specialty Formulations, a site sponsor. They offer a variety of fully synthetic tranny fluids and gear oils. Their tranny fluids are rated GL4.
