Hey fellas ive been using Amsoil Series 3000 for the past 10K now and im just courious if the Series 2000 will help with gas milage? How well will it hold up to the Texas heat? Thanks.
Thanks buster i may try it in the winter and in the summer S3000quote:

The heat isn't an issue at all, even for 20wt oils. The S2000 would improve your gas mileage to some degree. Probably more so in the winter time on cold start ups.

Just fine...it will actually lower your oil temps a bit, compared to running the thicker S3000.
The AW chemistry of both oils is actually quite similar, but the S2000 is more heavily friction modified and it's a bit thinner in terms of high temp, high shear viscosity.

I beg to differ, in a friendly sort of way. If Amsoil came up with a 0w20 equivalent of GC, they'd have a huge market to capture. Think of all the Ford and Honda, and soon to be Toyota owners who are looking for the "best" oil in the spec'd viscosity, where but only boutique oil makers have stepped up to the plate.quote:

Seriously for now I wonder about the need for a Full Synthetic 5W-20.
Yep...a lot of websites would surely need updating.quote:

I imagine it's a marketing decision rather than a technical one.

Plenty of 2001-2003 Ford and Hondas out of warranty by now.
