A few months ago, I changed out my transmission fluid and used AMSOIL MTF 75W80 which I got from their product lookup guide. At that time,the MTF was recommended by AMSOIL for both 2008 Evo models GSR(5 spd) and MR(6 spd). I went on AMSOIL's website and saw that now, the recommended oil for the transmission is AMSOIL MTG 75W90. ***?? Why all of the sudden did AMSOIL change their minds about what type of their oil should be put in the GSR(5 spd)? Do I need to change it out and put in the MTG or can I leave the MTF in their until the 30K mile maintenance?

what did amsoil have to say when you asked them?
I didn't talk to anyone at AMSOIL yet. I saw it online today and sent them an email. I imagine I'll get a response tomorrow. If not, I'll call them and see what's up. It seems retarded that they switched it up. That would suck if I had to replace the transmission fluid with the MTG seeing as how I just did it 2500 miles ago.

The MTF shifts similar to stock. Haven't noticed any difference between the two. The thing that really urks me is I originally bought the MTG and a dude at AMSOIL said to replace it with MTF. So I pretty much threw away new MTG in the trash. Now the MTG is recommended.
What's weird is the viscosity comparing the MTF and MTG.
The stock fluid is 75W80 which is the same as 5W30 motor oil's viscosity. The MTF has this viscosity. The MTG is 75W90 which is equivalent to 5W50. Those viscosities seem way too different to make MTG the correct fluid. Don't you think?

Maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me a few months ago then. Because I could've sworn it was the same for both models.
A tech guy at AMSOIL said that Mitsu must've changed what they recommend to AMSOIL. He also said that AMSOIL goes by whatever the manufacturer tells them. Now I have to get MTG yet again.

FWIW Amsoil's Synchromesh just does not work in DSM transmissions, I dont know how close the synchronizer designs are however. most people get best results by mixing Redline MTF and MT-90

Mixing is not such a bad idea in MT's. 50/50. MTF/MTG would work great in the 5 speed.
