Amsoil High Mileage

Havoline is higher detergent oil. If your OCI was reasonable, I would bet you have no sludge. Have you pulled a valve cover?
Valve covers have not leaked yet so no. Going in for a spark plug job and will check if any are leaking. OLM monitor was used every change.

I was just starting to wonder about using Amsoil vs Valvoline now that VRP is starting to show up in ON, Canada. I can get Amsoil SS shipped for the same price (slightly cheaper) as VRP w no shipping. If I were to go with either one I'd have to get analysis done to benefit from the 3x cost of the oil vs Walmart or Costco.

In my case, all the engines are all over 10yrs old (high mileage) but none of them really burn / leak anything significant. Should I entertain:

1. Amsoil HM, Euro, SS + testing
2. Valvoline Restore & Protect + testing
3. Stick with Walmart HM / Costco, no testing, 5k OCI

The cheapest is Costco 5w30 on sale, but no HM option.

What vehicle? Any oil burning?

Hard to say no to Amsoil if it's the same price as VRP. Wow.

With all the hype on VRP. I was thinking about the Amsoil HM since my primary car has over 100k. My older new to me hauling truck I bought has 200K.
After looking at the chart for comparing Amsoil oils, I think I'll stay with SS oils. I am on my second baseline run Of Kirkland/Costco oil on my truck. I only put a little over 1000 miles on it in one year. I inspected the filter, it has some carbon in the pleats, but was decent looking. I do like using the SS Amsoil oils because I do my own maintenance, and it saves me time.

This is the chart I looked at to decide on staying with the SS oils.

I have good reason to believe that Amsoil kept my rings clean while using SS before switching to HPL. Not the same as this high-mileage, however, I would believe it will at least help with the rings/lands.
Did you have any oil burning in your Subaru before switching to HPL?
