A great deal of discussion of the Fram Endurance filer and its issues. It only makes sense that the EA lineup follow suit due to the manufacturing.

As some have shown before, the AMSOIL filter in this case EA 017 has some rather disappointing internal flaws. The spring assembly, as it is a stamped spring design, has flaws. The flaws shown in the 2nd and again the 3rd pictures.

Not doubting others’ info here, just needed to get some oil on my new filter cutter.

At this point, for Champ Labs made bypass seal areas, it's just the norm now. Not what one should expect to find in any oil filter but even more so on a premium filter. Fwiw, when I c&p a new Fram FE7317 it was to confirm what WhipCityWrencher found with a flashlight test. Been so many leakers seen since, seems like a long time ago now.

Thanks for c&p.

Yes…..and this one confirms it’s still a problem, at least in September

Ripples strike again for the billionth time.
I like all my oil to go through the filter media.
Unfortunately, It's not funny for the buyer to get this level of production issue. The others can do it just fine & Fram has 0 excuses.

So, what is a safe bet these days as far as filtration efficiency and construction?
Construction can be found in Premium Guard built filters or other reinforced media like the Boss. Efficiency data is usually found from Purolator at this time if you want to know your individual filter is rated at. Not sure about others but hard to find. Possibly try emailing the company you want & see if they'll even respond.

What vehicle and how many miles? Don’t look too awful. What went back in and on?

Thank You

Here I was thinking the amsoil can filters would be ok vs their cartridge brethren. I was going to keep buying them even given their ratings and (perceived) quality. WRONG!

I’ve already reached out to the regular guy csr from amsoil. They’re nice and offer to replace or refund, but what I really want is a high quality American made filter!
