Another design issue that can cause problems during production if the leaf spring isn't stamped correctly. The wrinkles and VERY minimal on this one. However, there are two “tits” that are impeding the spring plate from being flush.

Me too, and the Carquest Premiums. Other similar PGI extended versions also available. It gets me away from possible bad leaf springs, louvers and sloppy glue that sheds in use (Motorcrafts). Plus they are well built and efficient, and aren't that expensive. Best choice these days for all of those reasons.Unless something changes…….I’m done with the AMSOIL filters. Microgard Select installed

They are looking for a buyer.Worst Brands strikes again!
That's probably going on to some degree with other dealers too, so Amsoil should see the red flag and get Champ Labs to get it fixed or find a new supplier. It's a lot harder to regain reputation than it is to lose it. You're feedback about it is a message they should take seriously, and that's all you can do which is a good move for sure.I will say personally sales of filters for me alone are down 30-40% for 12 months.
It's a complete black box to me. This type of thing, Dealers are EXACTLY the same as the public. They have told me they are acting on it. But - well frankly not sure what the contract says - or what the PO's say. That's probably going on to some degree with other dealers too, so Amsoil should see the red flag and get Champ Labs to get it fixed or find a new supplier. OK^^^ Any company contracting another company to make oil filters (or anything for that matter) with their brand name should have a solid "does not meet specifications, performance or required quality" clause in the contract. And if that part of the contract isn't met, then monetary penalties and a clause to cancel the contract/order at any time.
You're assuming Amsoil has higher standards than First Brands.^^^ Any company contracting another company to make oil filters (or anything for that matter) with their brand name should have a solid "does not meet specifications, performance or required quality" clause in the contract. OkAnd from rstcso: "You're assuming Amsoil has higher standards than First Brands."
Any company that doesn't have a solid supplier non-performance contract just leaves themselves open to the impacts of shoddy quality, like what's been seen lately. No supplier can be fully trusted. Champ Labs (and Fram, or whoever might have supplied Fram)) use to be able to stamp out perfect leaf springs … but not now. So something happened that needs attention and fixing.
What's your point.

It comes across as flipped and sarcastic ... "OK". If you agree with what I said then just thumbs it up, or say something like "I agree". If you don't agree with someone's comments, then respond and say why. I've wrote and participated (peer reviewed) probably around 80-100 SOWs, RPQs, RFPs and worked directly with QA on dozens of complex projects - way more complicated than any oil filter. So what I said stems from that experience.Read what I wrote.
I worked in supplier QA since 1982. I'm pretty sure I know how it should work (geez!), but I fairly clearly stated I'm not in the loop.
You stated the obvious and I said "OK". Is that some problem?
I'm trying to ignore you guys insulting Amsoil when you don't have any real information. Why for example did you have to quote rstcso?

Like said, it came across flipped regardless of what you actually meant - It's how I see it. Don't care if you thought it was "meh" ... it was for others here to also read.Your comments were "meh" to me. I guess I could have written that, just saying a more or less neutral "OK" was perhaps inflammatory. I can't disagree, but I can say it didn't really need to be said I guess, but of course you are free to write as you want. So I just said "OK" because I didn't have a ton of time. OK?
We don't know what happened at the production facility or why, but we can see what happened through posted cut & posts. That's all that matters to people who use the product, or anyone who might want to use it. Same goes for pretty much any brand filter discussed in a cut & post thread. Look what happened to the reputation of the Fram Ultra, and of course the Fram Endurance which is in the same boat with the sister Amsoil filters.WE (me, you, others in this thread) know not very much as to what happened and even less as to current status. We can speculate and I really don't want to go there.
Just the fact that you seem upset about someone saying Amsoil may have standards in common with First Brands shows it's somewhat "personal", because you sell and represent Amsoil. Normal behavior for it to feel that way, I probably would too especially if I couldn't do anything about it. I'm sure they have some kind of standards requirements with Champ Labs and/or First Brands, and hopefully someone at Amsoil cracks down on the quality issues. If they just "trust" Champ Labs to make a quality product with the Amsoil brand on it, then they are just being too lax with a supplier. And it's NOT personal. But to write somehow Amsoil has anything, standards or whatever in common with First Brands should have been nipped in the bud. It's silly at best.
