i too will be giving the amsoil eao filter a shot shortly. i plan on using the HDD 5w30 and the oversized filter for my neon with a 15000 mile interval. i could probably get away with going 20000 to 25000 because i am on the highway a lot. but i like to have a cushion. i will do a used oil analysis between 7500 and 10000 just to make sure ill be good for the full 15000. if i am then i will continue on to 15000 and may do a used oil analysis when i drain.

What I am gathering from this thread is that the new filters are a dud and still should be changed every 12.5K/6mo months like the old ones. Double the price yet same run time?

I have two of the new ones waiting to be installed soon. If the can't go the 25k/1yr maybe they are being a little misleading.

Let's try looking at it this way:

- New filters from Amsoil have been out for only a short period of time, thus few people have racked up 15K, let alone 25K.

- The technology has been around, but was used by other makers (Donaldson I believe).

- No one says the filter is incapable of going 15K or more, it simply hasn't been done by Amsoil customers due to the short time its been avaliable .

Thanks for the great input. I'll use the new filters and see how they work for me.

I have been changing the oil at 10K, this next time around I think I'll see how far I can run it out to before Black Stone says it needs to be changed.

I just purchased an eo filter for a friend of mine . He does a mix of interstate / intown driving . He says he is going to run the filter 25k if the year dosen't run out 1 st. I'am not upset with the way pablo answered my question, If I don't care for his answers I will respond back. The reason that the question was posted in the wrong place was, that I'am new here & couldn't find the other sections, but, I'am good to go now
