The pic pretty much explains itself below. I used two (3" x 5") 3/4" pieces of pressure treated plywood on the front of the intake horn and one 3" x 5" piece on the backside painted black. I used four 5" long bolts to tie the plywood together on each side of the intake horn.

I used blue loctite on all nuts because I'm excessive like that

. The three nuts that were used to mount the Amsoil bracket to the plywood are hidden. On the second piece of plywood on the front I used a wood bit and countersunk three 3/4" holes so that the nuts from the Amsoil bracket (mounted to the front piece of plywood) would fit in the holes and the two pieces of plywood on the front side of the intake horn would mount flush to one another.

Once the bolts are tightened down the plywood WILL NOT MOVE. I wanted my Amsoil bypass filter under my hood so that's why I went to the trouble to do this. By the way, I just purchased the BK-203 Amsoil bracket and used my own hoses and fittings. The mount is a heckuva lot cheaper than buying the entire BMK-11 kit from Amsoil, but either one will work just fine.

Very well thought out! Main thing is ya won't have to be on your back side to change it. Nothing like staying clean and dry.

I wanted to add another couple of pics as I've rerouted my return line to the oil pan via a self tapping hollow bolt and added a 2 1/2" extender to move the petcock valve off to the side so I can get my sample bottle underneath.

I see a couple of potential problems.

1. Return line hitting metal intake from turbo.

2. To much overhang on petcock valve...vibration is going to snap a fitting more than likely at the filter head.

I like your old setup. You could have just put the sample bottle under the valve cover oil add return line.

Sorry, I like simple.

I appreciate the input, but my setup is thought out and will work fine.

I would think one would want the sample to be taken pre filter so that a more representative sample of the oil coming out of the engine would be taken. I would think even really dirty oil would look good after having gone through such a fine filter. Maybe I'm wrong??

Well, Tempest, my thoughts are if you're taking a sample post filter, you're testing the filter's efficiency. If you take a sump sample (pre-filter) you're testing the filter's suitability for the installation.

All right, I'll go along with that. But, I would like to know what is going on with the engine, and sampling post-filter could/would skew the results. I guess testing both places would be the best answer.

Any particular reason you went to the pan install vs the original oil cap? I am nearing my install and just have a hard time punching a hole in a perfectly good oil pan...However I do not feel any remorse drilling a hole in my existing oil cap (since $65 for a billet cap is outta the question)

I used a Stant replacement cap when I installed mine...they are solid and lack the internal ratcheting stuff...

I can't speak for Arka, but I like the fact I can monitor the oil's return from the filter...a lot of guys don't like the extra "clutter" of hoses under hood though.

Just wanted to make sure the caps had not cracked and dumped all the oil ect, Is the Stant version a metal cap? If so where did you locate??

Thx

My stant is heavy plastic...it has around 40k on it right now and I have had no issues with it...

I'd lockwire the sample valve, or add a drop of loctite so it doesn't gradually open due to vibration....

Very clean install.

I too liked the oil cap. It was easier to check how much flow was going through the filter, making sure it wasn't plugged or anything.

Looks very good. Not trying to nit-pick, I admire what you did there.

I am deliberating on my exact mount, yours while economical is functional, there is a spot on the left side of your filter that already has three tapped holes...but requires cutting / welding of bracket (which I can do). MY only concern with your setup is the ability to reach the fuel filter behind it, have you had any issues getting in and taking the top off?

Fuel filter is easily accessible. I would have preferred to use a bracket such as this one, but I don't really have access to a welder so I just came up with something that I knew would work.

By the way, if you do fab up a bracket similar to the link above let me know. I'd be interested in buying one from you. I'd need the bracket to extend high enough so a EaBP-110 could fit on it.

Funny thing, that guy has offered to fabricate and sell but I have had zero luck in locating this dealer? I even called the Amsoil office and they said that since I was not in his/her territory they would not share info????

I am getting ready to fabricate, I plan on putting mine on the block (in the location I spoke of earlier), I am going to use the Baldwin B50 filter setup and I believe they will be close(to your filter ) to the same length. I also will make the bracket even with the valve cover top so that I have plenty of room to extend the filter length (I plan on trying as many variables of the base / filter as possible to get best result, but at my mileage it will result in only up to 2 variables a year). I will however give you a heads up when I make it and offer for parts and shipping,o andf the beer I drank
