I recently picked back up managing some equipment for a ranch outside of Brady, TX. While this unit only had about 26h on the oil, it had been in there for almost 8 yrs due to very low use and nobody monitoring these things. I replaced it with Rotella T6 until I can establish what the actual usage on this will be, and that also allowed me to standardize oil against their work truck and tractor.

Oil was drained and replaced with Shell Rotella T6 15w-40.

Make/Model: Daihatsu 953cc Diesel

Lab comments:
Silicon is at a MINOR LEVEL; SILICON sources can be abrasive (dirt, Alumina Silica), seals and gasket material, lube additive or lube supplement, and/or environment contaminant; Flagged additive levels (moly, boron, magnesium) are different than what should be present for the identified lubricant. This may have been topped off with a different lubricant, the fluid may be misidentified, or a different lubricant or formulation may have been in use prior to a recent change. Lubricant and filter change acknowledged. Oil was suitable for continued use at the time of sampling.

Any idea on the Si? Air filter clamps tight? That sodium probably an oil additive? That Looks to be trending down though. Not bad at 1.1k hours. Thanks for posting your Mule UOA.

I'm pretty sure they had the oil pan off the unit in 2014, and when I changed the oil that air filter was filthy from all the dust from off-road driving on the ranch. So probably a combination of sealers, but also way overdue air filter / pre-filter change. And not sure on Sodium, not sure if that was part of the formula back in 2015, or whoever did their 'fix' back in 2014 introduced some other contaminants.
