Amsoil ATF vs P/S fluid

I see now that Amsoil is offering P/S fluid, and it looks like it's a bit more expensive than ATF..
Do you know the difference? My dealership recommends semi-synthetic ATF (hyundai) for p/s, so ATF should be ok..

I also saw Valvoline maxlife semisynthetic ATF to be much cheaper than Valvoline maxlife P/S semisynthetic...

check the amsoil vehicle listing for the proper powersteering fluid for your vehicle. it may say atf as well, and if it does, atf should be ok.

There is a slightly different additive pack in the PS fluid.

I don't trust the recomendations of Amsoil, at least not for my Elantra:
Amsoil lists 0w20 for my Hyundai Elantra 2005, where the manual says from 5w30 to 10w40..
Amsoil lists their ATF as safe for my transmission, but it's quite popular knowledge that Elantra's transmissions die quickly with anything else but the original ATF fluid..

Before the power steering fluid was available from Amsoil, they were recommending the ATF, if I remember correctly..

100% Synthetic 0W-20 Motor Oil
SAE 5W-20 XL Synthetic Motor Oil
SAE 0w30 Synthetic Signature Series Oil
Above 0°F......10W-30
All Temps......5W-20, 5w30
This is updated as of 2008. Your manual was printed in 2004-2005. Neither is "wrong" per se, but the Amsoil recommendation is more timely and reflects all recent information releases from Hyundai.

Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid
1. Hyundai SP-III Automatic transmission fluid.
Amsoil has evaluated and tested Amsoil ATF and Amsoil ATF is rated for SP-III applications.

While I'm sure some folks have used the wrong fluid and killed their transmissions, are you really going to produce data that all other SP-III fluids other that the original fluid have ruined the Elantra AT? And in particular that Amsoil ATF has destroyed Elantra Automatic Transmission? If you can show me this data, I'll be informing Amsoil, big time. But, in reality this is hearsay. I have a dealer in the world of Hyundai. Amsoil ATF works fine in the Elantra AT.

Amsoil did recommend the ATF in the PS system, but now recommends the PS fluid.

I've had Amsoil ATF in my Father's Elantra for over 15K now with no problems.

I'd really like to use Amsoil ATF in my Elantra'05.
So, what testing did Amsoil do in Elantras? How many miles did it run the car for?
